The Team Assembles

Post Count: 6

Starfleet's Scientific and Technical Assessment Teams are part of the Starfleet Office of Mission Operations. STATs are deployed throughout the Federation to undertake a variety of missions that are small enough to not require an entire starship. They are often called upon to mobilize at a moment's notice.

STAT-42 is the first new such team in nearly a decade. Led by a once-promising young officer who’s getting an unexpected second chance, STAT-42 is stationed on the Excelsior-class refit USS Polaris. From there, the team will respond to a variety of scientific and technical issues around the Alpha Quadrant. In addition to dedicated workspace on the Polaris, the team also has three runabouts at their disposal so they can operate independently when needed.

Array of Sun

Post Count: 5

The USS Polaris has just pulled into port for resupply and crew rotation. Starfleet's Office of Mission Operations, looking to expand it's Scientific and Technical Assessment Team program, uses this opportunity to station a STAT on Polaris. The first new STAT in nearly a decade, it is placed under the leadership of a once-promising young officer, Lieutenant MacKenzie Jordan.

The new team doesn't have much time to get to know one another as they are called into action immediately after the Polaris leaves dock. STAT-42, the number derived from the Polaris' registry number, is called upon to investigate a subspace communications array that has gone offline. While the Polaris heads out to conduct a planetary survey, STAT-42 departs on their runabouts to the array. When they arrive, the team finds the array with some substantial systemic failures as well as physical damage. While they begin repairs, they also try to determine what caused the array to go down.
