| Personal History | Nilis had plans to attend the Trill Academy of Science, when he was of age. However, at the age of 18, he was called to the Joining, and became the 4th host of the Adar symbiont. He had been off-world at the time, and the previous host had died unexpectedly, thrusting the responsibility to him. He'd never really intended to be joined, but (like most Trill) he wasn't willing to let the symbiont die, and took the responsibility. He delayed his continuing education for 2 years while he adjusted to the Joining, at which point he realized that after 3 lifetimes of studying science, he really had no desire to do it for a 4th lifetime, opting instead to attend Starfleet Academy. Nilis majored in Military Tactics, and graduated as a Security Officer, accepting a posting on the USS Polaris. |
